MARKS AND CERTIFICATES

OUTSTANDING ~ 90+ ~  An exceptional performance both technically and artistically
(with medal – solo classes only)

DISTINCTION ~ 87-89 ~ An excellent performance both technically and artistically

COMMENDED ~ 84-86 ~ A convincing performance both technically and artistically

MERIT ~ 81-83 ~ A capable performance showing some artist appreciation and/or technical ability

MODERATE ~ 78-80 ~ A performance showing development of technique and/or communication

FAIR ~ 75-77 ~ A performance limited in its communication

OVERALL TROPHIES AND AWARDS

From 2022 each section with have 2 overall awards with the first cup being awarded for the Highest Mark achieved across the weekend of competition.  The second award will be the ‘Adjudicators choice’ and this would usually be presented to an entrant who has consistently performed well across a number of classes in the section or who shows the greatest potential.

All awards are given at the adjudicators discretion and correspondence will not be entered into.

BOROUGH OF BASINGSTOKE CUP is awarded to the highest number of Outstanding Certificates gained by any adult competitor in Music, Drama or Creative Writing classes. The recipient must reside or work in the Borough of Basingstoke.

The Overall Awards will be presented during the Gala Performance and Award Ceremony at Queen Mary’s College, Basingstoke at 2.00pm on Sunday 27th March 2022.

Other trophies and awards are listed in the Schedule of Classes.
Responsibility for the engraving and safe-keeping of trophies rests with the winners or their parents. All trophies remain the property of the Festival and must be returned to the appropriate Section Secretary by the designated date.

THE ARTS SOCIETY BASINGSTOKE

We are offering a bursary of £250 to a talented young person, aged between 10 years and 14 years, whose mark in the BMAF in 2022, is above 85. Applicants will need to live within the Borough of Basingstoke.

Applications should be made by letter, outlining your plans on how you intend to spend the money. (e.g. to upgrade your musical instrument, to pay for lessons with a top teacher, support you in a placement at a music, drama or writing summer school etc.)

Please tell us why you are passionate about your skill and why you, above others, should be the person to attract this financial reward. In the following year you will be asked to give evidence of how you have spent the money and how having that award has benefitted your progress.

Applications will be assessed by the Committee of The Arts Society Basingstoke and awarded thereafter.
